Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does this come with a battery and charger?

No, this model does not come with a battery or charger. This is an electric tool.

  • How is the Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw different than a typical saw?

Typical table saws are big, bulky, and difficult to transport out of the workshop. The Bladerunner is different. A unique, compact, and portable tabletop saw, the Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw blends the cutting characteristics of a table saw, jigsaw, scroll saw and bandsaw and lets you take the workshop to the job site. Stop struggling to make the right cut while trying to control both your work piece and maneuver the saw. The Bladerunner’s tabletop gives you a solid support surface for your materials while giving you full, two-handed control of a variety of cuts – scroll, cross-cut and even rip cuts. Using standard T-shank jigsaw blade 4” long or less allows you to customize your Bladerunner for the job at hand, whether that’s wood, metal, plastic or even thin-set tile. Easily take the best of your workshop to the job, instead of the other way around.

  • Is the Rockwell Bladerunner X2 battery operated or electric?

The Bladerunner X2 is a 5.5 Amp electric tool and has a 10-foot cord to give you the reach you need to skip the extension cord.

  • What are the Bladerunner’s dimensions?

The table size is 15-3/4” x 17” and the Bladerunner’s total height (with the arm installed) is 17”.

  • How heavy is the Rockwell Bladerunner?

The Bladerunner X2 Saw only weighs 14.7 lbs which makes it extremely easy to transport between the workshop and job site. Don’t limit yourself to the workshop – take your workstation to the job and tackle a wider variety of projects.

  • Does the Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw ship assembled?

To keep your shipping cost to a minimum, the Bladerunner does ship with minor assembly required. Attaching the guide arm and installing a blade will take less than 5 minutes and require no tools. You’ll be ready to cut before you know it!

  • Are blades included in the Rockwell Bladerunner X2 package?

Yes, each Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw includes 5 T-shank jigsaw blades to get you started.

  • What kind of blades to the Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw use? Do I have to use Rockwell blades?

The great news is that you can use the blades you prefer or you can get locally. The Rockwell Bladerunner can use any T-shank jigsaw blade that is 4” long or less. No more waiting on a shipment to arrive before starting a project! You can pick up any blade to suit the job at hand at your local hardware store.

  • What is the Bladerunner’s stroke length?

The Rockwell Bladerunner X2 has a stroke length of 3/4”.

  • What is the maximum cutting capacity for the Bladerunner? What kind of materials can I cut with the Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw?

The Bladerunner X2 cuts a variety of materials depending on the type of blade you’re using. Pick the blade that best suits the job, from scroll cutting, to rip cuts, the Bladerunner’s cutting capacity will vary depending on the material:

    Wood: 1-1/2”

    PVC pipe: 1-1/4”

    Aluminum: 3/8”

    Steel: 1/8”

    Ceramic: 3/8”

  • Can I make internal cuts with the Bladerunner?

Yes! You can make internal cuts on a material by first drilling a hole wide enough to accommodate the blade in the area to be cut out. Lift the guide arm and slide the material over the blade, then lower and secure the guard arm again. Once your work piece is stabilized by the pressure foot, you’re ready to cut!

  • Can the Bladerunner make wet cuts for materials like stone, brick or tile?

Wet cuts are not Bladerunner friendly. If you’re working through stone, tile or brick, we recommend looking for a wet saw or a tile saw to get the best result for your project. The Bladerunner can take you far, but some materials require specialized tools.

  • Can the Rockwell Bladerunner make angle cuts? Can the Bladerunner make bevel cuts?

The Rockwell Bladerunner can make angle cuts and comes with a rip/angle guide to get the angle you need. Bevel cuts requiring the blade to move instead of the piece aren’t a good fit for the Bladerunner, but there are plenty of other Rockwell saw options to explore.

  • There are three channels on the tabletop of my Bladerunner. What are these for? How do I install the rip fence and mitre gauge?

The two parallel channels to the right side of the guide arm are designed to support the rip fence. Insert the two metal arms of the rip fence into the channels and slide the rip fence into place, tightening the two bolts on top to hold it in place for a secure, accurate cut. The single channel to the left of the guide arm is for the miter gauge. Insert the metal arm of the miter gauge into the channel, adjust the angle of the cut, align your material, and use the guide to guide your material through the cut.

  • Does the Bladerunner have a dust removal option? What size vacuum hose can be attached to the Bladerunner?

Yes! The Bladerunner’s guide arm has a vacuum attachment port for dust removal. The vacuum adapter directly accommodates a 1-1/4” hose, a common size for most workshop vacuums.

  • I need to use an extension cord on the jobsite to operate my Bladerunner. What kind of extension cord should I use?

Choosing the right extension cord is more than picking the right length to reach an outlet. The right extension cord will ensure you get the performance you expect and will extend the life of your 5.5Amp Bladerunner. To find the right extension cord, find the correct gauge for length you intend to use on this chart, or the one in your manual. Your local hardware store will be happy to help you select the right cord to meet your needs.

  • How do I change the blades?

Changing the blade on the Bladerunner is quick, easy and requires no tools! First, remove the safety key to prevent accidental starts (and unplugging any power tool before installing blades or making changes is also a good idea). Raise the guard arm, and place the blade holder over the top of the blade. Depress the red blade release button on the left side of the Bladerunner tabletop and slide it to the left. This will release the mechanism holding the blade and you will be able to easily remove it to install a new one, or release the button to close it for transportation.

To insert a new blade, depress the red blade release button on the left side of the Bladerunner and slide it to the left. Holding the new blade with the blade holder, insert the shank into the Bladerunner with the teeth facing the front of the machine. While holding the blade in a firmly seated position, slowly return the release button back to its original position. Once the button is no longer pressed in, you can remove the blade holder, lower the guide arm, re-install the security key and get back to work.

The Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw even includes blade storage on the front of the machine. Keep your favorite five blades easily accessible where you need them - on the saw!

  • I just installed a new blade, but it’s not sitting straight. How do I fix it?

If the blade isn’t fully seated during installation, there is a potential that it can turn in the mechanism as the blade release button is disengaged. Fixing this is easy. Follow the instructions for removing the blade. With the blade release button still engaged, re-seat the blade and make sure it is completely inserted into the mechanism. Hold the blade firmly in place while slowly releasing the blade release button. Once the button is completely disengaged, release the blade and remove the blade holder.

  • There are rollers in the guide arm, but the blade doesn’t touch them when working. How do I adjust them?

The rollers in the guide arm aren’t intended to make contact with the blade during normal cutting, so they don’t need to be adjusted. They are there to protect both the machine and user if the blade is mis-aligned during improper cutting (cutting beyond blade capacity, without the proper use of the pressure foot). For complete operating information, please review the owner’s manual before using the Bladerunner.

  • I can’t get an accurate cut with the Bladerunner. The blade wobbles while I try to cut. Why is this happening?

This is a symptom that the material you’re cutting is thicker than the Bladerunner’s cutting capacity. Make sure you’re not exceeding the cutting capacity for the material you’re cutting by referring to the owner’s manual and ensure the pressure foot is adjusted securely against the surface of the working material.

  • The guide arm isn’t something I’m interested in using. Will the Bladerunner work without it?

The Bladerunner is designed to work with the guide arm and pressure foot, both for securing the material to the cutting table to get an accurate cut and to provide an added measure of security for the user. We strongly discourage removing the guide arm before using the tool and urge all users to review the full details in their owner’s manual before operating any power tool.

  • I misplaced my manual. Is there anywhere I can get more information?

You can download the manual here. You can also check out our Rockwell Bladerunner X2 Saw playlist on YouTube for reference, or our friendly customer service team will be glad to answer any questions you may have at 1-866-514-7625 (ROCK).

  • Are there any precautions I should follow when using the Rockwell Bladerunner X2?

Carefully review the owner’s manual for all safety information and guidelines for using the Rockwell Bladerunner X2. Follow safety precautions while using any power tools – including wearing safety eyewear, gloves, appropriate shoes & clothing, and keeping hair tied back. See the owner’s manual for complete safety instructions and details.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A True Workhorse! The BladeRunner X2 Portable Tabletop Saw is a true workhorse! I need something strong, portable and lasting & this has been a blessing. I bought a fixer-upper, so, I've used this to redo my condo and now my son is using it to work on his house. It has the power to do any job I ask of it & then some, plus it's easy to use and quick set-up. Highly recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable! This is a beautiful machine and it works (worked) really well. I have used this machine 3 times, but just today I went to use it again, (for the 4th time), and I could NOT change out the saw blade I had in it from the last time I used this machine. The red button for disengaging the cutter does NOT work now! I had to use a flat-head screwdriver to manually rotate the collar/collet in a counter clockwise direction to release the existing jig saw blade as well as enable me to install a different one! I have, so far, never cut anything other than wood - and the thickest of them all was only 3/4'. What do I need to do to get this resolved because I love the design of this machine and it fits the bill for a lot of things I need to do that other machines are not as efficient for?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice little tool I bought this today while at Lowe’s. It was an impulse buy since the tool was on sale and with my military discount it was worth the cost. Used it this afternoon to cut some plastic. Should come in very handy with the odd jobs around the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Bladerunner is a beast. Get one. The Bladerunner is a beast in addition to being the ultimate cutting machine. You are in for a treat but you need to check the motor adjustment so the Bladerunner cuts straight as it should. This is a motor adjustment that you can do with the help of a YouTube video that will show you how this procedure is done. Once you do this then you will be ready to do some test cuts. Then put the Bladerunner to work. I use a square to line up my fence in preparation for a cut then, install the proper type blade for the material I will cut when using the fence. Not all cuts require the use of the fence but use a square if using the fence. The miter gauge is accurate but hold it down while making a cut and go slow and let the blade do the work. Make sure to check the specs for the maximum thickness of material and type of material you will cut. You want to use the right blade for the right material for best results. You do not want to try to rip cut a 2x4 because you will not get an accurate cut at all. I tried this just to see what limitations the Bladerunner had and if could actually do it. Yes, it did rip cut a piece of 2x4 but it was the worse looking cut on planet earth. Don't do that unless you want to make it look like a drunken beaver cut it. Use the recommended thickness of the material and the proper blade for the material you are cutting. Get the crosscut sled accessory. You will need it at some point and it is very useful. You can mount the Bladerunner permanently to a table or use the wall mount. I repurposed an old nightstand for my Bladerunner and it works just fine while using the wire catch on the front of the base to hold your Bladerunner in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Cool Jig Saw At first I was upset. Rattled all over the place. Messed with the arm & arm screw and was surprised when I felt the arm fall into place. Really thought I had that arm on properly the first time. Now it has a minor vibration similar to a jig saw. That is what I expected. So now I have a $100 upside down jig saw that can do all sorts of fun things. I also have the slide (it works too). Happy with this thing. Played for an hour. I wouldn't trust the miter or stop without a 2nd measurement. No plastic stamped ruler or cheap miter is gonna be perfectly accurate. But if just needing a really close estimate they are as good as any other in their class. This is exactly what I expected it to be for the price. There are always things to enhance (guess that would be X3) but I give 5 stars because my expectation of the tool is exactly what I got.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw Have been using this for a few years now. I design and build dollhouses, and this makes cutting small curved pieces a breeze. Small interior cuts are easy without having to remove the blade. Straight square cuts are always made. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Since I bought the blade runner it's a delight to have to save time pulling out 4 different machines when your finishing a job, it cuts trims, it cuts tiles, it cuts wood flooring, I even cut a metal pipe all you have to so is change the blade to do what you need, I don't have picture's or a video but believe me I've been doing house remodeling for over 30 years and this machine saves time from going from machine to machine and it's lightweight to carry to different floors if need be, it paid for it self on the very first job I did, awesome little table

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Additions There is a more powerful motor. The adjustable push guide works well. The guide to the right of the saw is great. The heavy wire addition that stabilizes the saw on the bench, keeping the saw in position is a very wise addition. I like the way that the arm is attached to the saw base; it makes cutting large pieces of material very possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hello Rockwell & public...I'm Travis & I purchased this saw after seeing the commercial...Wow this little saw is the truth!!!...light weight and its like scribing with a pencil...smooth cuts & very reliable...only draw back to me is I wish they add a light near the cutting area & add rubber feet so it want move while cutting. One more thing would be nice is to high light the table scale...more visible to set your fence by....overall I really love this saw. *( pics are my partner Eric in action )*

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product My wife knew I had been wanting the BladeRunner for awhile so she surprised me with one for Christmas and the day after Christmas I made a little table for it so I could clamp it in the Jawstand XP or Jawhorse Sheetmaster that she got for me last Christmas. I just finished my first project with it a bridge for a Ho scale train layout made of 1/4" poplar Square stock and was able to do all the cutting in the house thanks to the shop-vac hookup on the saw. I would definitely recommend the BladeRunner I have cut just about everything with it except tile and I don't have any complaints with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Size I just bought the Bladerunnerx2 for Christmas and am very pleased with it. I don’t have a lot of room to do work but this is just the right size and portable. The Bladerunner also works great. I like it so much, I bought every other tool Rockwell makes. Very pleased with Rockwell products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product (tool) Bought it last month. The initial thoughts upon unpacking was that this saw was more like a toy than a tool. How wrong I was. Gave it a tough test; cut a 4"x4"x4" diagonally. The saw blade was not long enough as I planned. The cut was really quite smooth. Flipped the cube over to finish the cut. A perfect cut! I'm talking about my fingers being less than an inch away from the blade. The saw, at no time, buck the cube. I could follow the cube flush with the initial cut. I was pleased. Even though it is super light weight (7-8#) the saw showed no signs of wanting to walk. The first big power saw, I bought some 45 years ago, was a 10" Rockwell table saw which is still used without a single problem. I am reasonably confident that this blade runner will provide me "total satisfaction".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful design. This is one of the safest small saws I have ever used. It took a little getting used to, but I was so impressed with this my wife and son bought me a Versacut and Jaw table tool for Christmas. Ironically, I had purchased a Sonicrafter as a gift for that same son! The BladeRunner is a very good saw for the work it is intended for.

1.Do they make a spiral blade for  it? 2. How do I get it to stop jumping all over the place?

Asked by: Mcw1965
Thank you for your question. At this time, there is no spiral blade for the BladeRunner. If the blade is wobbling, this is a symptom that the material you’re cutting is thicker than the Bladerunner’s cutting capacity. Make sure you’re not exceeding the cutting capacity for the material you’re cutting by referring to the owner’s manual and ensure the pressure foot is adjusted securely against the surface of the working material. Thank you for choosing Rockwell!
